Well we got back to the house in a bit of a state and the Garden looking awful. Fortunately prospective son-in-law is starting up a gardening business. Rather than give him cash, decided to buy him tools, ppe and do his startup paperwork. Well wasn't charging him bed and board with coming through with the newborn.... Sunni a doting nana again!!
Now on Skip no 3, the front garden is now beginning to look almost done............ Amazing what 4 tonne of red chips does for making a garden low maintenance. New shrubbery planted, new rose bed........... Sunni's most unfavourite bush decapitated................ Love seat under a cutback tree............. and the lawn reseeded! Prospective son-in-law removed 30 bin bags of weeds and stuff from the lawn!! When we went out to Saudi the lawn was lovely, smooth, flat and green. We got back to a large muddy weedy patch!
No one could get up the side path from the front of the house to the back as the supposedly cut down tree had re-grown in the years we were away. Fortunately a good pal of ours had fallen out with his boss, had a chainsaw and took his umbrage out on the tree. Now we got a walkway back and the tree has a big cut out so folks can walk past and not snag their tights! Oh and some big logs to sit on!
18 months later and the front garden is now maturing, the lawn? Well it is not going to win any prizes and the severe winter by UK standards will not help it.
ReplyDeleteStill need some selective cutting back on the hedges but definately improved. Can even walk around the outside of the house now. Most definately low maintenance now. Don't think anyone has sat in the loveseat, maybe this summer?
Even had the gates re-hung and back in position for the first time in 20 years. The hammerite paint wasn't but what the heck a recoat this spring and they will not look too bad.
